The Churches Conservation Trust looks after over 340 church buildings, which attract 1.5 million visitors each year. They required a modern social website, which enabled communities to get involved with the management and restoration of their local historical church buildings. We consulted on the required functionality to achieve this. The website was built in Decibel CMS and is fully taxonomised. This means that each church has been tagged with its characteristics, location and nearby attractions in order to make it easy for visitors to quickly refine large numbers of churches of the ones of particular interest so they can plan their days out. The site also uses a complex Google map intergration, faceted search techniques, accepts donations through a payment integration and is highly optimised for search engines.
